Marquee Selections' Bryce Gillespie - The South African Connection
South African expat, executive at wine importer Marquee Selections, and brand evangelist for Backsberg, Bryce has a true insider’s perspective on both Backsberg and South Africa.
Bryce has been in the wine industry since 2010, working harvests in South Africa, France and the US' Willamette Valley. His tenure at Backsberg Estate Cellars in South Africa helped develop his passion for connecting wine drinkers to the hidden gems of the wine world and bringing the incomparable quality and character of South African wines to the American market.
Bryce has always followed his instincts for the finer things in life, which eventually landed him an excellent wife and a home base in the cool and quirky lil’ river city of Portland, Oregon. As an executive with Marquee Selections, Bryce has the enviable job of spreading the good word about some of the finest hidden gems of the wine world - from Italy to Argentina, from France and Spain to his homeland South Africa. Singing to praises of his personal favorite, Backsberg Family Wines, comes naturally not to mention with a lion's share of personal anecdotes and behind the scenes stories. Bryce is also behind Marquee's newly expanding portfolio of wines from South Africa, something we're all looking forward to.
