At the South African Food & Wine Festival, we 've learned a few things over the years about conjuring an authentic taste of South Africa in the middle of Virginia. Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that creating good food at the event requires a blending of old and new, expected and unexpected, imported and local, passion and skill. Our approach is simple:
- Find good local chefs with an adventurous spirit and an ability to work their magic with food & fire, outdoors, in a festival environment;
-Give them inspiration and expert advice on traditional South African cuisine;
-Supply plenty of imported spices, sauces and boerewors made by South Africans in USDA inspected facilities.
-Stock The Market with a wide variety of imported South African goods, like Ouma Rusks, peri peri hot sauces and Mrs Balls Chutney, that would bring any homesick South African to tears.
We're excited to bring in new talent this year and hope you'll enjoy what we've come up with. We have a Pit Master extraordinaire, a Curry King, a beloved local Gelato maker and more good things up our sleeves.
